The Kirche is Charles Melton’s homage to the great Australian Shiraz/Cabernet style. The 2017 is a beautifully aromatic wine, with the blackberry/briar Cabernet perfumes giving a real interest on the nose and also adding a degree of balancing finesse to the Shiraz components’ richness and weight. Some rounded tannic grip augers well for the longevity of this wine, with a lovely gentle, but apparent cut of acidity giving the wine some real vibrancy.
