Charles Melton Rose Of Virginia
2019 Rose of Virginia Vibrant hue, juicy pink, a nose of Turkish delight and musk. Yet some serious vinous chops, with a hint of Mediterranean garrigue or spice and even a little citrus tang. In the mouth is lovely light touch, yet still with the expected roundness and smoothness that is the Rose of Virginia. If you can, look at it alongside the 2018 version, which is still drinking beautifully, but is now a little more complex and settled in its own skin. Not plumper (no comment!) but richer and wiser against the youthful exuberance of the 2019. My comments may seem occasionally light hearted about the Rose of Virginia, but our endeavours to make it one of the most consistent and unique rosés of the world, remain very serious. The 2019 sits very proudly in a lineage that now goes back well over 30 years. Chill it and chat!
